New bike day: Andrew's frame just landed in Joburg and this is what's in the box.
This frameset has been a long term project of mine and the subject of countless discussions with Andrew. Despite my repeated and ongoing warnings he insisted on a clear coated raw finish with flame blued detailing. He then left it up to me to decide on the design aesthetics and blocked my IG feed so that he couldn't accidentally see what I was getting up to. "Surprise me" he said.

At the time I had no idea how terrifying those two words would be. Having complete freedom to do what you want sounds great, but every decision I've made has been tempered with the fear that Andrew may not like it.

Too late now! I love how this turned out and even though it may well require proper paint one day (we'll have to see how the clear coat holds up), the blued and brushed steel contrast makes me very happy for now.

I'm excited to see it get built up although I'm still a little nervous to find out what Andrew thinks...

All in a day's work: this classic SA built Zini tandem came to the workshop in need of a dropout replacement. The driveside had cracked and it looked as though the non-drive side was following its leader closely. Although I had an identical pair available we decided to rather use this pair of "Everest" touring dropouts as they are substantially beefier and better quality.

That took forever while simultaneously being way quicker than I'd anticipated!
The trickiest part for me was being careful with the silver solder so as not to create a bucket load of cleanup work. Glad to have this out the way now!
